Happy Thanksgiving to all, and especially to my darling beloved
plumtreeblossom, with whom I’m sharing my seventh Thanksgiving today, and to my mother
silverlibre, who came out from Illinois to share it with us. And happy Thanksgiving to all of you!
(I know some people find Thanksgiving problematic because it mythologizes and covers up the brutal reality of Western colonialism in the Americas. My take is that I find a national holiday that celebrates a semi-mythical and atypical episode of cooperation between one people and another, which was mythologized and promulgated in large part by abolitionists, a lot preferable to national holidays that celebrate true histories of one people slaughtering another, so Thanksgiving is pretty far ahead of plenty of other holidays around the world.)
