Buy blue

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] greenfizzpops (and [livejournal.com profile] nex0s, who got it from her) for this link (http://www.buyblue.org/bluexmas.html) to a table of companies that donate Republican and companies that donate Democratic. *Sigh*, I’m going to need to find a new steak house. There’s an Outback that’s very convenient on my way home from work. Unsurprised about a lot of the companies, though. For instance, I knew Costco treated their employees very well and was sort of the antithesis of Wal-Mart. I’m unsurprised that their political contributions are also antithetical to Wal-Mart’s.

[Edit: If you stop shopping someplace because of their political contributions to the Repugnant Party, you might want to drop them a note to that effect. My guess is that most of these companies see political contributions as business expenses more than as a matter of ideology. Wal-Mart isn’t going to stop contributing to Republicans, because their core business model is tied in with Republican divide-and-conquer strategies of subjugation, but I’m sure many of the other companies would happily reduce their conservative contributions if they started to look like a net liability rather than a net asset.]

What's your objection to Barnes and Noble and Borders? That they're both huge and tend to drive indepedents out of business. That's true of every large company in every business. I tend to buy more of my books (when I'm not hitting the public library used booksales) from MacIntyre and Moore in Davis Square than from either of the biggies but have no particular animus toward them.

What I found interesting is that both of the huge book chains support the Dems. Maybe they figure that Democrats are, on the whole, more literate than Republicans. It's true, they are. And they didn't learn to read with Phonics.
