I finally got around to uploading my Pride and Prejudice photos to Flickr.

Just wanted to mention that I still have a room for rent in Quincy, in case anybody who reads this is looking or knows anybody who is. $800/mo. all utilities included. Since Craigslist URLs aren’t persistent, here’s a copy of the ad.

I will confess I didn’t know until just now that Buddy Roemer was running for president. I don’t know a whole lot about his politics, but he is clearly the GOP candidate with the best sense of humour.

¹ Except for a very few commercial apps which seem to have been stored in such a way that they weren’t in my backups, and I haven’t yet tried to migrate the text messages that arrived on the flaky temporary backup phone I was using while I waited for the replacement to arrive.

1. If you have a Dreamwidth account as well as an LJ account, and I’m on your Friends list on LiveJournal, could you add me there as well? That way I can comment there when I see cross-posts. (I’m beowabbit there as well as here.)
2. The coffee-flavored jellybeans were not the high point of my evening, but they were definitely up there. I knew the flavor was very familiar, but I wasn’t actually able to identify it unaided. Now I think I’m going to be obsessing about coffee-flavored jellybeans for days.

That thing with putting my house on the market didn’t work out so well, alas. So I’m looking for a housemate in my place in Quincy Center.

Alternatively I’d be willing to rent the smaller room (which I’m in now) for somewhat less money. Haven’t figured out exactly how much, but maybe $600/mo including utilities. (The larger room is probably a better deal though; the small one is very small.)

I would like to try putting the house on the market again next season (for a sale sometime in or after the summer), but whether I do that and the timing could be influenced by a housemate. (So if a potential housemate wanted to stay through the end of the school year, or through the end of the summer, that’s almost certainly fine, and if they wanted to stay for a couple years or so that might work too.)

Anyway, feel free to spread far and wide! (And sorry I haven’t been posting much to LJ these days. I’ll fix that, just as soon as they put a few more hours in the day. :-)

I should have posted about this some time ago. I’m in another live radio drama. (I.e., a radio-style voice-and-sound-effects show, but performed in front of an audience.) I play an interstellar explorer with a very useful skill in a radio adaptation of Clifford D. Simak’s “The Junkyard”, originally broadcast on NBC’s X Minus One. My beloved plumtreeblossom is doing sound effects for another segment, Three Skeleton Key. Performances are July 14, 15, and 16, with two shows on the 16th.

At work, we have a project to build a web app to front-end a moderately complex Postgres database. This will replace an existing "database" in FileMaker Pro, so the migration is also part of the project (although I think those tools are pretty close to finished).

We have a contractor who got this (I’m guessing) about half done who is having to bow out at this point. Anybody on my F’list looking for a contract gig in Ruby on Rails, or know someone who is? Drop me a note if so. (If you don’t have my email address, beowabbit@livejournal.com should work fine.)

I meant to post this a long long time ago, but life has been crazy. And life is still crazy, so rather than taking the time to write up a post (and not having time for a shower before work), I’m going to quote from here:

Besides the usual awesome actors, clowns, melancholics, cross-dressing leading ladies, wrestling matches and love notes on trees, this production will include SCUL bicycles, burlesque dancers, firespinners, and color-changing LED lights. Yes, we're going for broke on what may be the biggest show Theatre @ First has ever done, by bringing together the fabulous talents of all the fabulous people we know.

Oh, and, we'd like to do it in Seven Hills Park.

Yes, free Shakespeare in the Park for Somerville! And to make it happen, we need support.

I've set up a Kickstarter page with a nifty video and further info about this. Go check it out, and give what you can; we're offering some nifty rewards.

The show is going to happen either way, but if Theatre@First can get enough contributions it will be free and outdoors, and free Shakespeare in the park sounds like a very worthy goal to me!
